Clean Air and a Green Sindh Our Top Priority, Secretary Agha Shah Nawaz Khan
KARACHI (29 April) – A groundbreaking step towards environmental improvement by Sindh Government! Under the special directives of Secretary Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department Sindh, Agha Shah Nawaz Khan, the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has announced an aggressive crackdown against smoke-emitting vehicles across Karachi.
The campaign, set to run from May 5 to May 29, 2025, will see strict monitoring of vehicular emissions at key locations throughout the city. SEPA has officially dispatched a letter to the DIG Traffic, instructing full cooperation from traffic officers to ensure the success of this major operation.
During the campaign, not only will vehicle inspections be conducted rigorously, but public awareness about environmental protection will also be actively promoted. SEPA officials have warned that vehicles failing to meet emission standards will face strict action without any concessions.
Secretary Environment Agha Shah Nawaz Khan has issued a clear message: "We are fully committed to waging a decisive battle against air pollution. No effort will be spared to make Karachi clean and healthy."
He emphasized that these measures are critical to ensuring a safe and sustainable future for the coming generations.
Environmental experts have welcomed this government initiative, expressing hope that a sustained campaign will lead to significant improvements in Karachi's air quality. Public circles have also widely praised the move, urging the government to adopt a "zero tolerance" policy against vehicles emitting harmful smoke.
The city now stands at the threshold of an environmental revolution, and with coordinated efforts, Karachi could soon witness a remarkable transformation in its atmosphere.
